It started with a campsite.
We're Renee, Leonie, Jaap and Johnson. Together with our children and dogs, we're the two families behind Karatugether.
Our story has its roots in Boscamping Zwanemeer, a forest campsite in the Netherlands. Renee and Leonie have been running it since 2022, and Jaap joined the team in October 2024. Johnson also helps out whenever he's in the Netherlands. Along the way, our families have grown, and so have our ideas for the future.
Now we're working towards our next chapter together: a new life and business adventure in Karatu, Tanzania. Each of us brings our own ideas, skills and questions to the table.
Big plans. Small steps.
Our plan is to build and run a lodge in Karatu together. It's still a dream in the making. There are plans to develop, people to meet and plenty to learn.
Karatugether is where we share the people and the process. Family life, entrepreneurship, discovering Tanzania and the things that don't quite go to plan.
